Weaving & Carving
Nearly Autumn Greetings from Woodspirit School—
Summer days have been busy with students weaving and carving up a storm. We met wonderful people from near and far in the last few classes—Birch Bark Plaited Basketry, a Birch Bark Canister Private Class, and Knutkorg: Scandinavian Knot Basket. We also spent time with our family, soaked up the fleeting beach days and of course went rowing and sailing in Jarrod’s wooden boat, The Pearl.
Exciting events are on the horizon with special guest Willow Basketry Wizard Steen Madsen from Denmark arriving on Monday. We will have a Craft Night Potluck Reception for him on Wednesday—All Welcome. Barn the Spoon from UK arrives shortly afterwards to teach a sold out Spoon Carving Masterclass with Jarrod Dahl in Ashland, WI with a Craft Night Potluck Reception for Barn on the Friday before class—All Welcome. We then take these spoon carvers on the road to the West Coast, San Francisco Bay Area to teach Spoon Carving in Oakland, California—a few spots left register here. We will have a Reception & Spoon Pop-up Shop at Joinery Structures on Friday, October 4. Calling out to all West Coast Spoon Carvers—Come see us!
There will be one last class to finish out our third season, Birch Bark and Wool Felt Ornaments and a few Winter Craft Night Events TBA (Got any ideas? Let us know here!) Also stay tuned for our 2025 Calendar. We have a couple new instructors and classes planned and a thank you discount for returning students.
We encourage you to engage in handwork, support live education, build skills and take on challenges. We hope you will join us in 2025.
